Builders’ merchant MKM Building Supplies is set to open a new branch in Ipswich on 2 February, creating 18 jobs initially, with headcount expected to increase to the mid-20s during the first year of operation.
The new branch will be led by Branch Directors Mark Turner and Joe Dyozinski, both Ipswich-born and with more than 40 years’ combined experience in the builders’ merchant sector.
The pair have previously held senior roles at national and independent merchants, including managing multiple branches in the Ipswich area.
Local leadership with sector experience
Turner began his career as a yard foreman before progressing into senior sales and management roles, including managing both the Martlesham and Ipswich branches for national merchants. Dyozinski started his career as a management apprentice and later ran several branches in the region.
Turner said the opening marked a personal milestone.
“Growing up here, you see how much community matters. People want others to succeed. Being able to build something in my hometown, for my family and my two boys, felt like the perfect opportunity.”
Dyozinski highlighted the local nature of the market.
“Ipswich has the best of both worlds – a busy town with rural communities all around it. Opening MKM here gives us the chance to control our own destiny, offer great deals to local customers and bring something genuinely different to the area.”
Materials supply and specialist product range
The Ipswich branch will supply a full range of building materials to trade and retail customers, alongside a modern showroom and specialist plumbing and heating support. Sustainability-related products, including heat-source pump solutions, will also be available.
Stock will include timber, bricks, pre-mixed rendering products, landscaping materials, kitchens and bathrooms.

The product mix has been determined by local market knowledge.
Dyozinski said:
“We know this market well. We’ve built the stock profile around what Ipswich customers need, not what looks good on paper.”
Experienced workforce and delivery capability
The branch will open with a locally recruited team, with all sales staff bringing a minimum of five years’ industry experience.
MKM said staff training and product knowledge will be a focus to support customers across trade and DIY markets.
Turner said:

MKM Ipswich will provide free local delivery, with next-day delivery as standard and same-day options where available. The branch aims to maintain strong stock levels to support construction activity across the region.
Community involvement
The Ipswich branch plans to support local community initiatives, including a charity supporting families affected by Down syndrome, alongside sponsorship of grassroots sports clubs in the area.
Dyozinski said:
