Kitchen manufacturer and supplier Magnet has joined the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF), expanding representation of the kitchen and interiors sector within the trade body.

Magnet has more than 100 years of heritage in kitchen design, manufacturing and supply, and operates a major production facility in Darlington employing more than 450 people.

The company produces the majority of its kitchens in the UK and supplies both residential and trade markets nationwide.

Focus on B2B growth and digital expansion

Earlier in 2026, Magnet transitioned to operate as a standalone UK business under new ownership, with a stated focus on expanding its business-to-business partnerships and enhancing its digital customer offering across showroom and trade channels.

The move is part of a wider strategy to strengthen its position within the UK construction and interiors supply chain.

Chris McManus, B2B Director at Magnet, said: “We are delighted to join the BMF at a time when collaboration across our industry is more important than ever.

“This partnership gives us the opportunity to work more closely with our trade partners, bring our expertise as a UK manufacturer and kitchen specialist into that wider conversation, and play an active role alongside other members to drive progress and continue raising standards across the industry.”

Supply chain collaboration highlighted by BMF

The BMF said the addition of Magnet strengthens collaboration across the wider building materials supply chain, particularly across manufacturing, distribution and specification.

John Newcomb, CEO of the BMF, said: “We are delighted to welcome Magnet to the BMF. We are proud to represent the full spectrum of building material supply from foundations to fittings and finishes. The breadth of BMF membership enables supply chain collaboration to address common issues, such as sustainability, skills and efficiency, and share best practice. I am sure that Magnet will make a valuable contribution to this work in the coming year.”

The addition of Magnet reflects ongoing growth in membership across manufacturing and specialist product sectors within the UK construction supply chain, as organisations seek closer alignment with contractors, merchants and wider industry stakeholders.
