A fundraising golf event organised by the Builders Merchants Federation has raised more than £12,000 for industry charity partners supporting education and young people.

The BMF Charity Golf Day, held at JCB Golf and Country Club, brought together teams from across the building materials and construction supply chain for a day of fundraising and networking.

A total of £12,250 was raised for The Educational Frontier Trust and Maddie Rose Foundation.

Teams of four representing BMF member companies took part in the competition, with prizes awarded during an end-of-day presentation alongside a raffle and barbecue.

The event included sponsored activities throughout the course, including a ‘Beat the Pro’ challenge at the ninth hole backed by NMBS, where six players successfully beat the club professional.

Players were also provided with refreshments at the Halfway House sponsored by The Journey Consultancy.

Food and drinks after play were sponsored by Browns Builders Merchants and Descartes Systems UK.

Construction supply chain companies recognised in prize presentation

The winning team prize, sponsored by Heidelberg Materials, went to Browns Builders Merchants, represented by Neal Myers, Jeremy Wheeler, Joe Wheeler and Paul White.

Other individual prize winners included:

  • Highest individual score: James Redfearn
  • Nearest pin: Gary Rosier-Taylor
  • Longest drive: Adam Reading

Raffle prizes donated by companies across the construction and merchanting sector included tool sets, golf vouchers and hospitality packages.

BMF highlights value of charity fundraising and industry networking

John Newcomb, Chief Executive of the Builders Merchants Federation, said the event combined fundraising with opportunities to strengthen industry relationships.

He said: “The BMF Charity Golf Day is an important fund-raiser for our charity partners which also provides opportunities to strengthen relationships across membership.

“Our heartiest congratulations go to all the winners and our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part in the event, particularly to JCB for their generous support and for hosting us at one of the most beautiful golf courses in the UK.”
