Rilmac, A Lincolnshire-based construction firm has donated building materials and equipment to several community-led initiatives across the East Midlands, in a move that highlights the growing role of the construction sector in delivering social value beyond project sites.

Construction supplies for grassroots repair and regeneration

Rilmac Group – which operates divisions in commercial insulation, asbestos removal, fabrication, and scaffolding – has donated over £800 worth of timber, tools, and materials to three local projects. The contributions are aimed at improving communal spaces, supporting wellbeing, and helping repair damage caused by recent theft and wear.

Among the donations:

  • A new shed for residents of Hazeland Court, a retirement living scheme in Lutterworth, providing essential storage for gardening tools used by the residents’ club;

  • Timber and safety equipment to support Friskney Community Garden, helping maintain raised beds and ensuring a safer working environment;

  • A cordless angle grinder to Louth Men’s Shed, replacing a tool stolen during a recent break-in, and allowing the group to continue creative and metalwork activities.

Firm committed to supporting local communities

The firm’s contributions are particularly impactful at Louth Men’s Shed, a group established in 2015 that now includes over 40 members tackling isolation and mental health issues through practical projects. Their work includes carpentry, upholstery, cycle repairs and metalwork – all contributing to local events and sales.
