MKM Building Supplies has launched its first dedicated eCommerce mobile app, allowing trade customers and DIY users to browse products, manage accounts and place orders directly from mobile devices.
The app has been developed in-house using React Native and forms part of the company’s wider digital expansion, alongside continued branch growth across the UK.
Mobile ordering designed for trade workflows
The app enables users to check local branch stock, view pricing, build baskets and pay invoices, with features designed to support on-the-go purchasing.
Andy Pickup, Digital Director at MKM Building Supplies, said: “We wanted to create something that genuinely helps our customers day-to-day. Our branches do a brilliant job supporting customers face-to-face, and this gives people another way to get things sorted quickly when they need to.
“It means whether someone is sat in the van and needs to quickly order a few bits, or they are planning the week ahead on a Sunday night and lining up deliveries for the next jobs, they can do it there and then without having to wait.”
Features for trade and account customers
The app is open to both account holders and guest users, with secure biometric login via Face ID or fingerprint.
Additional features include voice search, product filtering, and dedicated sections for deals, clearance stock and timber cutting requirements.
For account customers, the platform also provides access to order history, invoices, statements, credit notes and payment tools.
Developed with branch and customer input
According to MKM, the app was developed over the past year with input from branch teams and customers to better reflect day-to-day purchasing behaviour.
Accessibility standards have also been incorporated, with the app meeting AA accessibility requirements to support use in different working environments, including on-site and outdoors.
Data and digital insight integration
The platform integrates analytics tools including GA4, Bloomreach and Fullstory to track usage and identify areas for future development.
The launch comes as MKM continues its expansion programme, with eight new branches opened in 2026.
