The majority of the Builders Merchants Federation’s flagship Building Block training programme has achieved Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation, in a move designed to strengthen skills development across the building materials sector.
Ten courses available through BMF Campus have successfully completed the independent assessment process required for CPD accreditation, providing merchants, suppliers and employers with recognised professional learning opportunities.
The accreditation marks a significant development for the BMF’s digital training platform, as the construction supply chain continues to focus on improving workforce competence and product knowledge.

Ten BMF Building Block courses achieve CPD status
The newly accredited courses cover a range of core construction and merchanting topics:
- Introduction to Residential Construction
- Heating & Hot Water Comfort
- Building Insulation
- Working Safely & Securely
- Timber as a Building Material
- Introduction to Bathrooms
- Landscaping
- An Introduction to Drylining
- Domestic Showering
- Above Ground Drainage
The Building Block programme is designed to provide accessible, industry-focused training that helps merchants improve technical knowledge, develop customer service skills and support career progression across the sector.
CPD accreditation adds recognised industry value
For learners and employers, CPD accreditation provides independent verification that training meets recognised professional standards and delivers measurable learning outcomes.
The BMF said the accreditation also offers benefits for suppliers, helping to strengthen the credibility of educational content linked to products and technical expertise while contributing to wider workforce development.
As skills shortages continue to affect the construction industry, professionally recognised training is increasingly viewed as a way of improving competence throughout the building materials supply chain.
BMF highlights commitment to professional development
Commenting on the achievement, Marianna Peet, Apprenticeships and Learning & Development Manager at the BMF, said: “Achieving CPD accreditation for the majority of our Building Block courses is a fantastic accomplishment and demonstrates our commitment to delivering training that is both relevant and professionally recognised. It provides additional value for learners, employers and suppliers alike, while further strengthening the role of BMF Campus as the industry’s leading online learning platform.”
Further accreditation planned for BMF Campus
The BMF said work is already underway to secure CPD accreditation for the remaining two Building Block courses.
The organisation also plans to seek accreditation for its BMF Diploma programme over the coming year as it continues to expand the range of recognised learning opportunities available through BMF Campus.
The latest milestone forms part of the federation’s wider strategy to support skills development and professionalism across the building materials and construction sectors.
