Prior to this, he held senior roles at Travis Perkins Group, including Group Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director of BSS. He began his career in the sector as an apprentice in 2001.
Advisory role to support sector insight and strategy
The BMF board structure allows for the appointment of up to two non-voting advisors to provide additional expertise on merchant, supplier and regional issues.
Castle previously served as a BMF Board Director in 2024/25 but stepped down following his departure from Travis Perkins. He now returns to the organisation in an advisory capacity, replacing Martin Stables of IBMG, who stepped down in March 2026.
Focus on growth and sector development
Richard Hill, Chairman of the BMF, said: “We are delighted to welcome Dave back as a Board Advisor. He brings commercial expertise and deep sector knowledge gained from his experience across the merchant sector, which will be invaluable to the BMF as we continue to drive innovation and growth in support of our members.”
